Emergency Vehicles
There are special rules that apply to police vehicles and other emergency vehicles on an emergency run and who are involved in an accident. Regulations require the emergency vehicle to have its lights and sirens operational. The driver is also required to slow down at intersections and stop at a red light before proceeding, even if on an emergency run. Although the driver may not be held to the same standard as a normal driver in a non-emergency situation, this does not allow the driver of a fire truck, police car or other emergency vehicle to drive carelessly.
